Our pan drawers are used every day, often several times a day and as such they are very easy to get messy, why? because it only takes one thing to be out of place for the whole system to fall apart.
Here we have two drawers, one above the other and the first thing we must do is to remove all the pans from both drawers, and then give them a good clean.
Then we need to organise the pans themselves and we do this by sorting them into categories. So separate all the saucepans into one category; then frying pans, then specialist pans, such as asparagus steamer, or pasta pan; then the sieves.
In the top drawer put in all your ‘general’ saucepans, organise them into size order and keep the handles pointing in the same direction – because it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye you will want to keep it looking nice.
Then on the bottom drawer, you put the frying pans, speciality pans and finally the sieves.
Now the trick is to keep them looking like this and that is achieved by always putting them back in the same place. You could even take a picture of how the drawer should look and keep it in the drawer, so when other members of your family are emptying the dishwasher they have a reference of where the pan should go.
If you notice someone has put something away in the wrong place or wrong drawer, put it in the right place, otherwise your drawer will be a cluttered disorganised mess in no time at all.
